Hi everyone,
Is it necessary to install the 64-bit version of our antivirus endpoint software on 64-bit Windows PCs, or is the 32-bit client adequate?
This is something that's been on my mind. Our network is a small domain with about 30 Windows 7 PCs on it. Back when it was installed the contractor got us an ESET Endpoint Security volume license which has been in use ever since. Whenever a new PC is added to the network, the AV package is rolled out with a standard configuration.
However, the standard rollout was built when we had only 32-bit Windows machines. Now we have a few 64-bit machines in the mix. The 32-bit package seems perfectly happy running on the 64-bit hosts, but I would like to know if there are security considerations for running 32-bit security software on 64-bit hosts.
Any advice on best practice?
