A little background. We are a manufacturing company that has all of its CNC machines networked. They need to talk to a file server on the network to send and receive programs so full out isolation is not an option. Each machine has a controller that is essentially a kiosk pc with an embedded version of windows installed on it. We have been told by the manufacturer that the pcs is too underpowered for AV and my experience with them confirms this. This of course makes them extremely vulnerable and basically terminally infected with something.
I'm looking for a recommendation for an anti virus product that can run on the very underpowered pcs that are attached to each machine. An acceptable alternative would be a network based scanner for these pcs. I have had some good luck using our corporate AV to do network scanning but I was wondering if there was a better tool for the job. Vlaning is on the way but I still want some sort of scanning solution.
